I am a postdoctoral research fellow working with Dr. Kengthsagn Louis in the Self, Health, Identity, and Culture (SHIC) Lab at Boston College. My research program, which I refer to as A Social Motives Approach to Self, Health, and Wealth Equity, examines how people strategically navigate potentially challenging interpersonal events and self-evaluative information. In recent work, I have been examining how people might advocate for themselves in evaluative contexts (e.g., at the doctor's office, protecting oneself from biased feedback) and how different contexts might provide opportunities that promote desirable outcomes (e.g., self-advocacy, community engagement, effective interpersonal feedback). Additionally, my work explores how one's mindset, and even one's perception of others’ mindsets, might influence how we strive for desirable change in ourselves, in others, and in society. You can read more about my work in a recent interview with the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.
